Karthik Gujja, MD

Karthik Gujja, MD, MPH, is a board-certified physician specializing in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, and endovascular intervention. He currently treats patients at Long Island Heart&Vascular Specialist offices located in Bronx, Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn. He is the Associate Director for Endovascular program at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Gujja graduated from India’s Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College in Gulbarga, Karnataka, in 2003. He later completed an internal medicine internship at Long Island College Hospital in Long Island, New York, as well as fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. In addition to this comprehensive training, Dr. Gujja completed a third fellowship in endovascular intervention/peripheral at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Highly skilled and educated, Dr. Gujja strives to provide his patients with the best possible care as a longtime cardiovascular disease specialist. Dr. Gujja has undergone extensive training to treat cardiovascular-related conditions, such as art failure, heart attack, congenital heart problems, and coronary artery diseases.

Dr. Gujja is also a renowned endovascular intervention specialist, offering low-risk alternatives to open surgery. He has been treating patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) for many years and continues to improve their quality of life through minimally invasive procedures, lifestyle changes, and medications. These new treatments can help patients take control of their PAD symptoms, such as swollen legs and leg pain, allowing them to return to their regular activities.

Shervin Golbari, MD

Shervin Golbari, MD, FACC, RPVI is a multi-board-certified cardiologist with special focus on cardiovascular diseases and imaging. His credentials include board certifications in Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Echocardiography and Stress Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE), Nuclear Cardiology by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), and he is recognized in Vascular Disease, as a Registered Physician for Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Dr. Golbari is also a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, Dr. Golbari is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Golbari completed his Internship and Residency at Case Western Reserve University. He then went on to complete his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow.

Dr. Golbari specializes in cardiovascular diseases with particular interest in preventative cardiology, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, atherosclerosis, cardiac arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, hypercholesterolemia, metabolic syndrome, congestive heart failure, and myocardial infarction.

Hima Yalamanchili, MD

Hima Yalamanchili, MD completed her residency in internal medicine at SUNY downstate program. She has worked as a hospitalist in North Shore Long Island Jewish Valley Stream hospital.

Cynthia Bala, MD

Cynthia Balasanmugam, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in General Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology. Nikhil Cordeiro, MD

Interventional & Vascular Cardiologist

Nikhil Cordeiro, MD, FACC, FSCAI is an interventional cardiologist specializing in advanced coronary and endovascular interventions. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. A Fellow of both the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), Dr. Cordeiro combines rigorous training with a patient-first approach to care. At LIHVS, he is dedicated to delivering innovative, compassionate care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.

Graduating at the top of his medical school class, Dr. Cordeiro earned multiple academic awards for excellence. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center, followed by a year at Mount Sinai Hospital as a Hospitalist and Instructor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine. He then pursued fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Maimonides, and completed an additional subspecialty fellowship in Vascular Medicine and Endovascular Intervention at Columbia University Medical Center, where he also served as an Instructor of Medicine.

Dr. Cordeiro maintains an active practice in cardiovascular medicine with a focus on atherosclerotic vascular disease and interventions throughout the circulation. His clinical expertise includes the management of:

Juliean Singh Pestano, MSN, ANP

Juliean Sing Pestano’s career focus on general Cardiovascular conditions that focuses on treatment, management, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Mr. Singh Pestano has over 10 years of practice working in a cardiac ICU stepdown and Interventional Cardiovascular specialty which motivated him to further his education. Mr. Singh Pestano began his Advance Nurse Practitioner career several years, graduating from Long Island University. He received a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Long Island University in 2018, becoming a certified Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP). He knew he wanted to remain in Cardiovascular and has been a trusted member of the Long Island Heart and Vascular team. Mr. Singh Pestano has a vast background in quality patient care in a variety of settings. Each experience greatly influenced both his desire to learn more and his interest in the field.

Jay McKeehan, PA-C

Jay McKeehan, PA-C, NREMT-P is a Physician Assistant currently treating patients at Long Island Heart & Vascular Specialist offices located in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Long Island.

Mr. McKeehan started his medical experience in Utah with certifying as a Nationally Registered Paramedic where he worked for more than 10 years. During that time, he worked in multiple care settings to diversify his experience and deepen his understanding across an array of emergency and non-emergency treatment. While working as a Paramedic he graduated from Utah Valley University, with a Bachelor of Science. He went on to graduate from New York Institute of Technology in 2023 with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and certifying as a PA-C.

Mr. McKeehan believes in treating patients like family members and strives to be compassionate in care and treatment plans.

Raquel Gokool-Ballo, MSN, FNP-BC

Raquel Gokool-Ballo, MSN, FNP-BC is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience specializing in outpatient cardiovascular care. She currently treats patients in the New York area where she is known for her dedication to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.

Ms. Gokool began her nursing career driven by a deep-rooted desire to help others. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Long Island University, where she built a strong clinical foundation focused on patient-centered practice. Her experience includes managing a wide range of cardiovascular conditions in the outpatient setting, with a strong emphasis on prevention, education, and continuity of care.

She values a collaborative team approach, working closely with physicians, specialists, and support staff to ensure patients receive the highest quality care. She treats every patient like family, striving to foster a supportive and trusting environment where individuals feel empowered in their health journey.
